Notice – Recording Fees Increase Effective April 29, 2022

House Bill 93 went into effect April 29, 2022, and requires all Ohio County Recorders to charge $4 for indexing any reference by separate recorded instrument. We are working with our legislators to change this to an optional charge, but as of today, it is mandatory. Any non-conveyance document that is recorded that refers to a prior recorded instrument as required by the Ohio Revised Code will have a $4 assessment charged per document. This typically will include documents like releases, assignments, subordinations, modifications, etc. We apologize for the inconvenience, but your state legislators have enacted this law. If insufficient funds are submitted with documents, they will not be recorded. We would be happy to help you by setting up an escrow account where money can be deposited for overpayments, or taken out for under payments. Please contact our office at 513-695-1382. Additionally, you may send extra $4 checks with your mailed packages. We will send any checks not needed back once your documents have been recorded. As a reminder, those who erecord do not need to worry about over and under payments as those are automatically taken care of through the process of erecording. Currently almost 75 percent of documents in Warren County are erecorded. Information on how to erecord can be found on our website.
Thank you,

Linda
